Personal Words From Susan
"I truly love the practice of yoga and teaching yoga is a great blessing! I feel like I have been personally transformed by this practice mentally, spiritually and physically.
My students are extremely important to me and I work hard to develop a genuine rapport with them. I felt very strongly in following the path of yoga therapy as I discovered so many people comig to yoga because of an injury. I knew I needed to understand the body more deeply and learn the skills to help students enhance their body's own capacity to heal. I work with the student in partnership to bring about this healing process. Yoga Therapy is a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of an individual.
Over the years many golfers have come to me for yoga instruction. I decided a few years ago I really needed to understand the biomechanics of the game so I went to Arizona to study with Katherine Roberts and became a certified Yoga for Golfers Instructor. I really enjoy teaching golfers as they are a serious dedicated yet fun bunch! Most have a great deal of muscular knowledge so along with offering them a rigorous strength building and flexibility improving program, they learn in depth the connection between body and mind using breath and relaxation techniques to gain confidence and stress reduction. We also laugh a lot and have a great deal of fun!
I love to read and study and just completed a 32-hour seminar in Orlando this month working with Aaron Mattes on active isolated stretching techniques. The Mattes Method promotes functional and physiological restoration of muscles, tendons, vertebrae, ligaments and joints facilitating healthier superficial and deep fascial planes. I am very excited about incorporating these new healing techniques with my students!"
